Gilberto is ruled out with a calf problem while skipper Thierry Henry, defender Lauren, striker Dennis Bergkamp and winger Robert Pires are all rested because of slight fitness concerns.

Veteran defender Sol Campbell will play along with Freddie Ljungberg and Robin van Persie but first-choice goalkeeper Jens Lehmann may also not be risked.

Ashley Cole (thigh), Gael Clichy (foot), Pascal Cygan (hamstring) and Cesc Fabregas (suspended) are all missing, while Emmanuel Eboue, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor are away at the African Nations Cup.
