Monaco chief: Evra deal 90% done
Monaco vice-president Gerard Brianti expects the transfer of France defender Patrice Evra to Manchester United to be completed next week.
The Red Devils yesterday completed the signing of £7m (€10.2m) Serbian centre-half Nemanja Vidic from Spartak Moscow.
And the £4m (€5.8m) deal to take 24-year-old full-back Evra to Old Trafford is “90% done” according to the player’s representative.
Brianti said: “Everything went fine, there is a real common desire to complete the deal, I am very optimistic. We are on the same wavelength and we will reach an agreement.”
Evra’s agent Frederico Pastorello told L’Equipe: “We really did a good job, we cleared out a lot of things and made huge progress.
“Manchester are becoming the most probable destination of Patrice. Only a few little details have yet to be sorted out but nothing that can overturn the deal now.
Pastorello revealed he had met with United chief executive David Gill and Monaco officials to finalise the deal.
“We are at 90% of a total agreement and we all made the decision to let the weekend pass and to gather again at the start of next week to seal the deal,” he added.
Vidic has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and United boss Alex Ferguson said: “I am delighted the two clubs have come to an agreement. Nemanja is a quick, aggressive centre-half and at 24 will be a terrific addition to the squad.”
