Rovers repair undersoil heating link

Blackburn are to report to the Premier League that they have fixed the undersoil heating system problem which led to the postponement of their match with Sunderland last week.

Engineers have discovered a leak in the heating system caused by a burst pipe and the problem has now been fixed.

The Premier League had launched an investigation into why undersoil heating systems at both Blackburn and Bolton failed to cope with the freezing Christmas weather, forcing the clubs to postpone matches.

Blackburn managing director Tom Finn told www.rovers.co.uk: “The leak must have occurred in the 24 hours prior to kick-off.

“A subsequent lack of pressure meant that the system was not operating to full efficiency which resulted in selected areas of the pitch being unplayable.

“We have now carried out the necessary repairs and everything is back working to full effect.

“The club has an excellent record in avoiding fixture postponements and it was a very frustrating for everyone concerned to lose a key home game over the festive programme.

“We accept that a number of people were very inconvenienced and once again express our apologies for that.”
