Veron wants Estudiantes return
Juan Sebastian Veron intends to shun the limelight and play for former club Estudiantes when he returns to Argentina at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who is on loan at Internazionale from Chelsea, has already announced he will leave Europe for his homeland in the summer when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires.
It had been expected Veron would join one of the big Buenos Aires clubs but the former Lazio, Parma and Sampdoria star is hoping to lead a quiet life.
He said: “I do not want to play for either Boca Juniors or River Plate.
“If I leave an important European league, I do not want to start at zero in a big team.
“I want to stay quiet, with my family. Although Inter gave me lot of money, I will play for Estudiantes.”
Veron started his playing career at Estudiantes in 1994.
Inter’s search for a replacement for Veron has seen them linked with his compatriot Juan Roman Riquelme – a move Veron believes would benefit the San Siro club.
Former Manchester United midfielder Veron added in Argentinian newspaper Ole: “I would like it if Juan Roman Riquelme took my place at Inter.
“Riquelme has done very well at Villarreal. It would be an important thing for Roman signing for Internazionale.”
