Baggies confident on Clement

West Brom are confident central defender Neil Clement will be fit for the St Stephen's Day encounter with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The former Chelsea player suffered an ankle injury during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Portsmouth.

Clement was absent from training today but Baggies assistant manager Nigel Pearson has no doubts he will be able to maintain his ever-present record for this season.

He said: “Neil took a knock in the first half on Saturday so we expect him to miss a couple of days’ training.

“But it’s not too serious and he should be okay. We fully expect him to be back for the Boxing Day game.”

Clement has formed a strong partnership with Curtis Davies in recent matches and Albion had been unbeaten in four games before the loss at Fratton Park.
