De Zeeuw misses clash with leaders

Wigan captain Arjan de Zeeuw will miss his first Premiership game of the season tomorrow.

The 35-year-old Dutch centre-back is out of the clash with reigning champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after sustaining a knee injury in last week’s 3-0 defeat at Liverpool.

Matt Jackson steps in for his first league start of the season, and is one of a number of changes planned by manager Paul Jewell as he looks to freshen up the team after three successive defeats in the top flight.
