Ljungberg rises to striking challenge

Arsene Wenger praised the never-say-die attitude of Freddie Ljungberg which epitomised Arsenal’s battling Champions League victory in Amsterdam.

Because of injury problems and suspensions, the Swede was pressed into a more attacking role against Ajax last night – and dually obliged with an early strike to set the Gunners on their way to a 2-1 win.
