Dyer agrees new four-year deal with Magpies

Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd has revealed midfielder Kieron Dyer has agreed a new contract with the Magpies.

Dyer, who looked to be on his way out of the club when he refused to play out of position at Middlesbrough last season and was then involved in an on-the-pitch incident with team-mate Lee Bowyer, has agreed a new four-year deal after a spectacular rehabilitation.

“Dyer’s contract is all agreed,” Shepherd told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

“Both we and the player are happy. Now it is just a matter of checking legal and tax details before it is signed.”

Dyer, 26, and his team-mates are likely to be joined by Turkey international Emre Belozoglu for the new campaign with the Inter Milan midfielder expected to complete his move to St James’ on Friday.

However, he will not be formally unveiled until a work permit is received, the application procedure for which will require the 24-year-old to leave the country.
