No assistant coach in sight for Cork

Cork City manager Damien Richardson admits that he is no closer to appointing a new assistant manager at Turners Cross.

Richardson has been without an assistant since replacing Pat Dolan one month ago and, despite talks with a number of unnamed individuals, he has not made an appointment yet.

He said: “I’m looking for a certain type of individual to supply me with a certain service. It’s a little bit time-consuming and the irregular hours are proving the obstacle.

“I’ve made a pledge to all of the players that I’ll work with them individually as well as collectively, and that’s very time-consuming, so I need someone in with me who can afford to spend the time with me on the training-ground.

“The training ground is the most important place in the club. It’s where the players learn their art and improve their art and I need someone to work with me there.”

Meanwhile, former goalkeeper Phil Harrington has joined the club as goalkeeping coach.
