Foxes sign Patrick McCarthy

Leicester have completed the £100,000 (€145,300) signing of Manchester City defender Patrick McCarthy subject to a medical.

The 21-year-old Dubliner, who has had spells on loan at Boston and Notts County, has agreed a three-year contract and is likely to go straight into the squad to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Manager Craig Levein has moved quickly to secure the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international as he has just two central defenders fit for the east midlands derby.

The Foxes are also confident of signing Southampton defender Darren Kenton on a month’s loan before the weekend.
