PFAI Player of the Year nominees announced
The Professional Footballers' Association of Ireland Player of the Year nominees were announced on Wednesday with, unsurprisingly, Shelbourne dominating the Premier Division category.
As well as having six players on the Premier Division team of the year, which was selected by all ten Premier Division managers, last year’s PFAI Player of the Year Jason Byrne and defender Jamie Harris are nominated for the Player of the Year award along with Shels' recent signing from Dublin City, Gary O'Neill, Drogheda United's Declan O'Brien and Kevin Doyle of Cork City.
In the First Division category, Willie Doyle, who recently left UCD for Waterford United is nominated along with Finn Harps' Kevin McHugh and Trevor Vaughan, who has just moved from Dundalk to Dublin City.
Republic of Ireland Under 21 trio Sean Dillon (Longford Town), Liam Kearney (Cork City) and Daryl Murphy (Waterford United) are nominated for the Young Player of the Year Award.
The winners of each category will be announced at a PFAI Awards lunch on January 25.
