Drogheda United have completed the signing of Longford Town defender Graham Gartland, their fifth new player to join since the end of the season.

Gartland, 22, won back-to-back FAI Cup winners’ medals during his year at Longford following spells with Barnsley, Dundee United and St Patrick’s Athletic.

He was ever-present for the midlanders this season and, having agreed terms with Drogheda today, joins winger Shane Robinson, goalkeeper Dan Connor, Finnish midfielder Sami Ristila and Bohemians defenders Damien Lynch and Simon Webb as manager Paul Doolin’s signings so far this close season.
