Marseille coach Anigo quits
Marseille parted company with coach Jose Anigo on Tuesday evening after a disappointing start to the season.
Anigo’s position had come under threat after his side suffered two defeats in the space of a week to arch-rivals Paris Saint Germain earlier this month.
A 2-0 defeat at Ajaccio on Saturday left the team seventh in the Ligue 1 standings.
Albert Emon, who was assistant to Anigo at the club, has been named as the interim coach while Marseille search for a permanent successor.
Anigo admitted he could no longer take the team forward. “I decided to stop because I came to a point where I did not know what to do anymore,” said Anigo.
