Cork City's O'Brien may be out for season

Cork City midfielder Colin T O’Brien may not play again this season due to the shoulder he dislocated against Shamrock Rovers on Friday night.

O'Brien suffered the injury in a challenge with Hoops player Mark O’Brien in the 18th minute of the Turner’s Cross clash, which City went on to win 1-0.

Cork boss Pat Dolan told his club’s website corkcityfc.ie that there had been no fracture but there was ligament damage when the shoulder blade became dislocated.

Dolan added that club doctor Gerard Murphy had estimated an eight-week lay-off but said: “We hope to have him back before the end of the season. Colin will see a shoulder specialist next week.”
