Trouble for City as stars set to leave
George O'Callaghan is to hand in a transfer request to Cork City while John O'Flynn could be on his way to Northampton, the Evening Echo newspaper revealed today.
The former Port Vale midfield star who turned down big money moves to Shels’ and Bohemians to stay in Cork says he now regrets his decision.
“I am very disappointed the way things have gone for me and I felt gutted at being left out of last night's big TV game," he told the Echo.
“I spoke to Brian Lennox about it weeks ago and I will have to get back on to him again now,” said O’Callaghan.
O’Callaghan also claimed Cork City’s French opponents in the Intertoto Cup, Nantes had made two, if not three, bids to sign him.
Pat Dolan also faces a huge task as he tries to persuade John O’Flynn to stay on Leeside next season.
The 22-year-old striker is keen to give cross-channel football another go. “I’d like to go back and have another crack at cross-channel football and, at the minute, Northampton Town seems the most likely club for me,” said O’Flynn.
“I intend to see the season and my contract out but there has been a lot of interest and my agent (Eamon McLoughlin) has told me of offers from Spain, Portugal or France if I wanted to go,” O’Flynn told the Echo.
