Samson arrested
Scotland Under-21 player Craig Samson was arrested after members of the team broke a curfew to go to a nightclub, it emerged today.
The players had been staying in Kilmarnock when they decided to go out for the evening, which culminated in police detaining the 20-year-old goalkeeper.
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman confirmed that a 20-year-old man was arrested in Kilmarnock early on Sunday and would be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
The team had been staying at the Park Hotel, when several of the players decided to head out to the Life nightclub.
An SFA spokesman, who said the matter was the subject of an internal disciplinary inquiry, declined to say if Samson would be playing in tonight’s Under-21 European Championship qualifier with Slovenia.
He added: “The squad has an important qualification match to play tonight and that is the priority.”
The spokesman also refused to confirm how many members of the team were involved in the incident.
Samson joined Queen of the South last year on loan from Kilmarnock.
