Leeds sign Cameroon midfielder Branco

Leeds have agreed terms with Cameroon midfielder Serge Branco following a successful trial spell.

Leeds have agreed terms with Cameroon midfielder Serge Branco following a successful trial spell.

However, they have not received international clearance for the 23-year-old to face Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

Branco, who has also trained with Championship rivals QPR this summer, has signed a one-year deal with the option for a further year at Elland Road.

He joins United on a free transfer as his contract with German side VFB Stuttgart ran out at the end of last season.

Manager Kevin Blackwell told the club’s official website: “He’s got experience at the highest level and brings real quality to the squad at a time when we need it.”

And United chief operating office Shaun Harvey added: “Terms have been agreed with the player and the club have applied for international clearance from Germany.”
