Celtic want Camara, claims agent
Celtic have made an offer to borrow Wolves’ want-away striker Henri Camara, according to the player‘s agent.
The Senegal international was today back at the Black Country club to hold showdown talks with manager Dave Jones and club secretary Richard Skirrow.
The 27-year-old has made it clear he wants to leave the club following their relegation from the Premiership and refused to join a pre-season tour of Norway.
Bolton have lodged bids to buy him but their best offer so far, of £2.7m (€4m), was rejected, with Wolves valuing him at around £5m (€7.5m).
Now Celtic, who are searching for a replacement for Henrik Larsson, have made it clear they are prepared to broker a deal to borrow the striker.
It is understood a season-long arrangement involving a fee and an option for the transfer to become permanent has been suggested.
Camara‘s agent Willie McKay said today: “I have spoken to Wolves and they say they have received an offer (from Celtic).”
McKay was today in the south of England on other business and was due to meet with Wolves officials and his client later in the day.
Celtic have yet to make a single signing since clinching the Bank of Scotland Premier League title last season and have lost Johan Mjallby and Jamie Smith as well as Larsson.
The Hoops are currently on tour in the United States of America and are set to play Chelsea in Seattle tomorrow.
Whether Camara is able to join them in time for games with Manchester United and Roma remains to be seen however.
But the player‘s days at Molineux appear to be numbered as his stance has angered fans and officials alike.
“He doesn‘t want to stay,” McKay said.
