Rebrov ready to fight for Spurs place
Sergei Rebrov is ready to return to Tottenham and fight for a first-team place under new coach Jacques Santini, according to his agent.
The French manager will take charge at White Hart Lane after Euro 2004 and has vowed to transform the fortunes of the ailing north London club.
With Santini and new sporting director Frank Arnesen set to review the state of the current playing staff before deciding on any new additions, the door could be open for Rebrov to return and rebuild his Spurs career.
The Ukrainian striker cost Tottenham a club-record £11m (€16.5m) from Dynamo Kiev in the summer of 2000.
However, he failed to make an impression and was subsequently loaned out to Turkish side Fenerbahce during January 2003 on an 18-month deal with an option to make the move permanent.
Rebrov has one year left on his Spurs contract and the player’s agent, Sandor Varga, claims the 30-year-old wants to see that out at White Hart Lane.
“On 1 July, Sergei will be joining the Spurs squad under their new boss,” Varga told the London Evening Standard.
“He is determined to fight his way into Santini’s plans.”
