Leeds: Smith not a United player
Leeds today insisted no deal has yet been done with Manchester United over the future of striker Alan Smith.
The Elland Road club have already turned down two bids from United for the player but discussions are set to continue with Smith having indicated that Old Trafford is his preferred destination.
Director Peter Lorimer said: “We discussed the situation at a board meeting yesterday but as yet no deal has been done.
“We have offers from other clubs but Alan has said he would like to got to Old Trafford.
“That is the situation as it is now and with United in the cup final we will look at it again next week. We will see what Monday brings but at present Alan remains our player.”
