De Boers' Qatar switch could fall through

Rangers defender Frank de Boer is prepared to stay at Ibrox if twin brother Ronald fails a medical to move to Qatar.

Ronald has been struggling with a knee problem, which required surgery this season.

Now his brother Frank maintains he would like to stay with the Light Blues if the injury prevents the pair moving to the Middle East.

He said: “I feel I have made a good impression here and, when you get that feeling, you wonder if you have made the right decision.

“I know now I can play two years in Qatar but first we have the medical tests and there might be a problem for Ronald.

“His knee is feeling good at the moment and he should be okay but, if he fails his medical, then I really want to stay here.

“I have said to Ronald for him to take his medical right away because we need to make a quick decision about Rangers.”

Meanwhile, Nuno Capucho and Emerson have approached the Scottish Professional Footballers’ Association over their position at the club.

The pair claim they have been told they must turn up for training while the rest of the squad are away on holiday.

SPFA assistant secretary Fraser Wishart told the Daily Record: “These players have rights like everybody else.

“They are entitled to 20 days’ annual leave and I’ll be drawing that to Rangers’ attention.”
