Darren Fletcher knows a third-place finish represents a disappointing season for Manchester United – but the young Scot has admitted it could not have gone much better from a personal point of view.

Prior to last August, Fletcher had made just two first-team appearances for the Red Devils. Saturday’s encounter with Chelsea marked the 32nd of an impressive campaign that has seen him emerge as the latest talented youngster off the Red Devils production line.
