O'Neill plans to give Kennedy new deal

Martin O’Neill has vowed to move quickly to make sure Nou Camp hero John Kennedy signs a new deal.

Martin O’Neill has vowed to move quickly to make sure Nou Camp hero John Kennedy signs a new deal.

The 20-year-old was one of the stars of the Hoops’ 1-0 aggregate victory over Barcelona last week, which took them into the UEFA Cup quarter finals.

Goalkeeper David Marshall was also outstanding in Spain and has just signed a new four-year deal.

Kennedy’s contract expires in the summer and the Hoops have already lost one exciting youngster to a rival as Liam Miller is bound for Manchester United-bound in July.

O’Neill said: “John is next on my list and we are already in negotiations with his agent.

“It will be good for the boy if he thinks he is going to be settled down.

“But I have of course to remember that we all thought Liam Miller was going to put pen to paper too.”
