Former England coaches Glenn Hoddle and Howard Wilkinson are among six candidates being considered to coach South Africa in their 2006 World Cup campaign.

Molefi Oliphant, president of the South African Football Association, confirmed that South Africa would begin deliberations tomorrow on who will lead the Bafana Bafana.

The former England coach, recently linked to Southampton, is still out of work after being sacked by Tottenham and Oliphant confirmed that he was among the candidates.

“We have got a long list of people who could be approached and Glenn Hoddle is one of them,” Oliphant saidl.

“Glenn is definitely one of the people on the list.”

Oliphant also said that former FA technical director Wilkinson, ex-France boss Roger Lemerre, Gianluca Vialli and Roy Hodgson, formerly of Chelsea and Blackburn respectively, and Stuart Baxter, previously an England Under-19 coach, are on the list.

Oliphant said the new man would be handed a two-year deal to take him through to the 2006 tournament in Germany.
