Rae out to win Ibrox hearts

Scotland international Gavin Rae admitted Rangers fans were not dancing in the streets when they heard he was coming from Dundee.

Scotland international Gavin Rae admitted Rangers fans were not dancing in the streets when they heard he was coming from Dundee.

The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the solid grafters of the Scottish top-flight rather than a flair player who delights crowds.

But Rae was determined to make an impact nonetheless – and used ex-Dens Park team-mate Zura Khizanishvili as role model.

He said: “I know I may not be the glamorous signing that the fans wanted, but I try not to let things like that affect me.

“I just need to concentrate on what I know I can achieve and I am determined to make a success of this move.

“Just look at Zura, he was not perhaps the signing the fans had hoped for, but he has done well for Rangers and hopefully I can do the same.”
