More argy-bargy for Beckham

David Beckham clashed with two Argentinians, including old enemy Aldo Duscher, and made a new enemy during Real Madrid’s latest Primera Liga victory.

The England captain worked hard in the Madrid midfield during the 2-1 win against Deportivo La Coruna, but his match only became especially notable following a clash with Lionel Scaloni in the closing stages.

The pair scuffled five minutes before the end of the game and both were booked, and later Beckham revealed details of a row with Duscher which developed after the Deportivo midfielder asked to swap shirts with the new Bernabeu favourite.

Duscher famously committed the reckless challenge which broke Beckham’s metatarsal bone, almost forcing him to miss last year’s World Cup.

Beckham was then a Manchester United player, and came across Duscher in a Champions League match, but since his transfer to Madrid in the summer their meeting has been keenly anticipated.

On this occasion, though, it was Scaloni who first upset Beckham.

“It was just a clash between two players. The referee asked us to shake hands but for some reason he wouldn’t. I had no problems with shaking his hand, though,” said Beckham.

“I just found out that he’s Argentinian. I didn’t know that before the game, but that’s now another Argentinian that doesn’t like me.”

Referring to the altercation with Duscher at the end of the game, Beckham added: “Duscher asked me to swap shirts with him 20 minutes before the end of the game, but I had already promised it to a little boy.

“The referee asked us to shake hands in the tunnel, but he refused. I haven’t got his shirt, either.”

Madrid lead the Primera Liga by two points after goals from Ronaldo and Raul saw off Deportivo, whose reply came from Walter Pandiani.
