Terry delighted with Chelsea 'statement'
John Terry believes Chelsea made “a big statement” when they beat Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge today.
The Blues moved to the top of the Barclaycard Premiership thanks to Frank Lampard’s first-half penalty.
“I think we have made a big statement but there’s a long way to go,” said Terry. “Psychologically it was big for us. It was a great performance by the lads today.
“There was a lot of hype and it was one of the biggest tests of the season. They played well but we came out on top. I am delighted for lads.”
Terry was also pleased to have kept a clean sheet against United’s formidable attack.
He told Sky Sports: “Their movement is first class, they don’t give you a minute’s rest but that’s another clean sheet.”
