Solskjaer set for surgery

Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set for surgery to try to cure a knee injury.

The 30-year-old Norwegian international scored in the 5-0 Champions League win over Panathinaikos, but missed Sunday’s explosive draw with Barclaycard Premiership rival Arsenal at Old Trafford and is set to have an operation later today.

A statement on the club’s official website, www.manutd.com, said: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is to undergo a knee operation on Tuesday.

“It is something we have tried to correct over the last few weeks, but it is important Ole now has this operation so he can concentrate on the rest of the season.

“Ole will be assessed after the operation to determine how long he will be out for.”
