Sevilla’s Mexico international midfielder Gerardo Torrado is a transfer target for Everton, according to his agent.

Torrado who has fallen out of favour at the Primera Liga side, is reported to have been invited to spend three days on trial with David Moyes’ side.

Torrado‘s agent Olaf Bonales told PA International: “There is interest from Everton, who want to acquire the player for a one-year loan with an option to buy him.”

The 24-year-old is contracted to the Andalucian club until June 2005, but appears unlikely to figure prominently in coach Joaquin Caparros’ first-team plans over the forthcoming season and made just 22 league appearances last term.

Torrado, part of Mexico’s 2002 World Cup team, joined Sevilla in the summer of 2001 from Mexican side UNAM.

Bonales added: “Everton have invited the player to go on a three-day trial to Liverpool. They are familiar with his ability but they want to meet the player prior to signing him.”

Torrado is set to travel to Liverpool on Tuesday and Bonales added: “The economic offer is good for everybody, as Everton would pay €200,000 for a one-year loan.”

Torrado added that he was excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, saying: “I’m willing to play there. I want to prove myself and that’s a good place to do it.”
