League Cup winners to receive €10,000

Soccer officials have announced that the winner of next Monday night's eircom League Cup final will win a cheque for €10,000.

The prize money will be the largest amount ever awarded to the winner of the cup.

The runners up of the game between Longford Town and St Patrick's Athletic at Richmond Park will receive €4,000, while the losing semi-finalists will receive €1,500 each.

Almost all of the 5,400 tickets available for Monday night's match have already been sold.

Both sides are at relatively full strength. St Patrick's Athletic have won the competition once before - in 2001 - while Longford are playing in their first ever final.
