Ljungberg: We've given away title

Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has admitted the Gunners have "given away" the title to rivals Manchester United.

At one stage this season Arsene Wenger's side led their rivals by eight points.

But they now trail by five and a victory for United at home to Charlton would extend the gap to eight - Arsenal play Leeds on Sunday.

Ljungberg said Arsenal had only themselves to blame as they had failed to grind out results away from home, typified by last Saturday's 2-2 at Bolton where the Gunners threw away a 2-0 lead.

"We have led the whole season and have now given it away with three games remaining," said Ljungberg.

"One of our major problems this season is that we have not been able to replicate our ability to grind out victories away from home by a single goal for crucial results.

"We want to play the football we enjoy, but sometimes when other sides don't want you to play that way against you, you have to roll up your sleeves and just dig in.

"We are not going to roll over and die and we will push our hardest until the end. I would be telling a lie if I did not say that it has been a huge blow to have been in control almost all season and then we drop two points at a time when United have three games to go.

"Our last four games (including the FA Cup final) are all cup finals, they must all be won convincingly if we are to have any chance of retaining our League title and the FA Cup.

"At the same time, I am realistic and what we are hoping for is going to be difficult to achieve," he told The Daily Telegraph.
