Seven Premiership clubs have applied to stage either the 2004 or 2005 Uefa Cup final, the Football Association have confirmed.

Seven Premiership clubs have applied to stage either the 2004 or 2005 Uefa Cup final, the Football Association have confirmed.

Uefa will choose the venues for the next two years later this month - the 2003 final is in Seville - along with the hosts for the Champions League.

Aston Villa, Southampton, Manchester City, Sunderland, Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle have all put themselves forward to stage a Uefa Cup final.

However, with Manchester United's Old Trafford hosting the Champions League final in May, it may work against England's chances of hosting two successive European finals.
