Morrison brings Ireland to within one
Russia 3, Ireland 2 (latest)
Clinton Morrison has pulled Ireland back into their Euro 2004 qualifier game against Russia in Moscow.
Ireland’s substitution paid dividends when Gary Doherty handed them a lifeline with a goal after 68 minutes.
The versatile Spurs man, who missed out on the World Cup after being out for most of last season with a broken leg, pounced on Harte’s corner from the left and buried a header in the roof of the net.
However, hopes of a miraculous comeback were ended within a minute as Russia restored their two-goal advantage from the restart.
Kariaka crossed from the left and Kerzhakov was unmarked on the six-yard line to stoop low and score with a diving header.
But Ireland cannot be written off and they again pulled a goal back after 74 minutes.
Holland fed Finnan from the right and his low cross was swept home by Morrison.
