Villa reveal interest in Matt Holland

Aston Villa manager Graham Taylor has revealed an interest in Irish international Matt Holland as a replacement for George Boateng or Paul Merson.

Villa currently have just three midfielders at their disposal and the new Premiership season is only 10 days away.

Holland, who scored Ireland’s equaliser against Cameroon in their opening World Cup game this summer, is also understood to be attracting interest from West Brom.

He had looked to set to move from Ipswich Town to Fulham earlier this summer, but the deal fell through.
