Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is confident of signing Aliou Cisse after agreeing personal terms with the midfielder.

Bruce has not held face-to-face talks with the Senegal captain. But he has agreed a £4.5m €6.98m fee with Paris St Germain.

"The player has agreed to everything that we have put forward to him," Bruce told Sky Sports News.

"It has been long and protracted because of the World Cup.

"We hope that by the end of the week he should be a Birmingham player."

Cisse starred as Senegal reached the quarter-finals in South Korea and Japan.

"Since he has gone into the World Cup he has gone through the roof," said Bruce.

"As soon as I saw him play against the French in the first game we made our move."

Bruce was attracted by Cisse's versatility as he can play in defence or midfield.

"The one thing about him is he has got a physical presence and we are short in that area," he said.
