Pay dispute leaves Cameroon squad stranded in Paris
The Cameroon squad is reportedly refusing to depart for the World Cup finals in Japan because of a pay dispute.
Reports in Yaounde said the players, who are scheduled to leave on Saturday, are refusing to do so until they receive their allowances.
The amount of money involved is unclear.
The team is currently in Paris, where it stopped over following the 2-1 defeat to Denmark in Copenhagen last Friday.
Prince Ndoki Mukete, deputy general-secretary of the Cameroon Football Federation, declined to comment on the reports, saying only that the Government is responsible for paying allowances.
Cameroon are one of Ireland’s three opponents in the group stages of the World Cup finals, which are due to begin in Japan and South Korea at the end of this month.
