Football supporters are appearing in court following violence at Rangers' UEFA Cup tie with Feyenoord.

Police made 34 arrests after scuffles broke out at Ibrox between a section of the Rangers and the Dutch club's supporters.

They are appearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court on a variety of charges, a police spokesman says.

Rangers operations executive Laurence McIntyre, who viewed security film of the incident, says the Feyenoord fans had started the trouble by charging at the home fans.

He says they were the "worst scenes" he's witnessed in the last nine years.

"I had a brief look at a film, and quite clearly we had a situation where there was a sudden surge of Dutch fans towards the home fans without any provocation at all."

The arrests were made inside Ibrox during Rangers' 1-1 UEFA Cup fourth-round first-leg draw with the Dutch club.

Rangers will take 2,500 supporters to next week's second leg in Rotterdam, and Mr McIntyre urged fans without tickets not to travel - or at least stay in Amsterdam if a trip there had been planned.
