Soccer: Eircom soccer awards nominations announced

The nominations for the annual Eircom international soccer awards have been announced.

Competition for the senior international honour is stiff, with captain Roy Keane, Shay Given and Steve Staunton all proposed.

In the young player category, Damien Duff, Richard Dunne and Ian Harte are all on the shortlist.

Last year's top scorer Glen Crowe, UCD player-boss Paul Doolin and Shelbourne defender Eoin Heary are named as possibles for the Eircom league award.

The ceremony will take place in Dublin on February 10.
