World Cup: Zidane says World Cup 2002 will be his last

French midfielder Zinedine Zidane has hinted that next year’s World Cup finals will be his last.

The 29-year-old Real Madrid star said he believes France can successfully defend their title in Japan and South Korea, but he suggested that he will not be around for Germany 2006.

Referring to next year’s competition, he said: “It will be the summit of my career. I’ll be 30 for my last World Cup.”
