UEFA Cup: Vacelet - we can beat Leeds

Troyes president Daniel Vacelet is confident his side can repeat their Intertoto Cup performance against Newcastle and knock Leeds out of the UEFA Cup second round.

The little French side beat the Magpies in the Intertoto Cup final last month to book their place in the UEFA Cup.

They will now play against Leeds after defeating Slovakian side Ruzomberok 6-2 on aggregate.

Vacelet said: ‘‘Of course Leeds are a big team and it will be hard, but I can assure you that (coach) Alain Perrin’s men will be more than capable of challenging them.’’

Troyes, who are ninth in Le Championnat, face newly-promoted outfit Sochaux on Sunday.
