Roy Keane is now rated as very doubtful for Ireland's crucial forthcoming World Cup qualifier against the Dutch.

Keane went for a scan yesterday over an ankle and is due to receive the results today. It is expected to show he will be out for three weeks.

The midfielder shipped a heavy tackle on his ankle during Manchester United's 2-2 draw against Blackburn on Monday.

He completed the full 90 minutes, but was visibly limping for the rest of the game.

The news is a massive blow for Mick McCarthy, who has already suffered the withdrawals of Kenny Cunningham, Mark Kinsella, Steven Carr and Gary Breen.
