Soccer: Veron to make Far East debut

Record signing Juan Sebastian Veron will get his first taste of action for Manchester United on the club’s Far East tour.

The £28.1m Argentinian, along with Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy - a snip at just £19m - is among a 20-strong party which will jet out of the country on Thursday for a 21-day trip which takes in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

United will play three friendlies in south-east Asia before heading home for Ryan Giggs’ testimonial clash with Celtic at Old Trafford on August 1.
