SPL: Forget treble triumph says Larsson
Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has urged his team-mates to put the success of last season behind them if they are to repeat their triumphs this year.
The Swedish international, who signed an extension to his Parkhead contract this summer, scored 53 times to help the Hoops secure the domestic Treble.
But now Larsson insists that the glory of last year will mean nothing if the team dwells on the past.
"We won three trophies and, when we stop playing and look back, it will be nice to remember that we were part of a team that won three trophies in Scotland in the same season," said Larsson.
"At the minute though, we must look ahead and not dwell on the past.
"I hope we can enjoy a similar season but it will be tougher than ever. Rangers and maybe one or two other teams will be challenging for the title and we want to hang on to it."
But Larsson himself will not be setting any public targets for the new campaign after winning the Golden Boot with his record-breaking goalscoring feats last year.
"I don't ever set targets but I always have ambitions that I like to keep to myself," Larsson said.
"Of course, last year I did much better than what I thought it would, but it was all down to the way the team played.
"I was the first Swedish player to ever win the Golden Boot award which was obviously a big honour because there have been many other good players in the country.
"I won't get it (the award) until nearer the end of August, but although it was a great achievement I couldn't have done it without the rest of my team-mates.
"I couldn't have done it alone because it would have been beyond me to get all those goals without having the team behind me."
Now Larsson is hoping to team up with a familiar face for the new season with the arrival of Finland winger Joonas Kolkka on trial from PSV Eindhoven.
"I played against him when he was with Wilhem II," said Larsson.
"He was playing on the left flank and I came up against him a few times.
"I remember that he was very quick, and I also saw him play a few games when he was with PSV - he has always impressed me."
