Premiership: United deny Ferguson snub

Manchester United have dismissed newspaper reports that they have snubbed manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson, who was due to go on a four-week holiday today, announced before the club's final Premiership game of the season that he would sever links with United when his contract as manager runs out at the end of next season.

United have since arranged a meeting with Ferguson to discuss his future at Old Trafford and the club issued a statement this afternoon dismissing reports that those talks had been postponed.

The statement reads: "In the wake of several inaccurate newspaper reports published over the last two days, Manchester United would like to point out that earlier this week a meeting was arranged between the club and Sir Alex Ferguson's advisors to discuss his future.

"Since then that meeting has neither been cancelled nor postponed and will be held on the agreed date."
