Sheringham future settled by weekend
Teddy Sheringham could announce by the weekend whether he will stay at Manchester United or re-join Tottenham.
Sheringham is weighing up rival offers from both clubs and could make an announcement following England’s friendly against Mexico on Friday.
Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle has admitted his interest in the striker and is willing to offer him a two-year deal worth around £35,000-a-week.
This betters the deal tabled by United and the champions have refused to budge on their offer of a one-year contract worth £35,000-a-week.
Sheringham’s agent Barry Nevill said: "There might be something by the weekend, but at the moment nothing has been agreed and he’s still a Manchester United player."
The double Footballer of the Year is reportedly leaning towards a move back to White Hart Lane on a Bosman free transfer four years after he left to join United in a £3.5m move.
He quit after he fell out with former chairman Alan Sugar and his departure from Spurs earlier this season has paved the way for the England international to return.
Moving back to London would also enable Sheringham to be closer to his teenage son Charlie.
Sheringham, who was United’s top scorer with 21 goals this season, also knows the competition among the Reds’ strikers will be even more intense next season following the £19m signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
