Premiership: Hoddle - I left Saints in healthy state
Glenn Hoddle claims the only club he would have left Southhampton for is Tottenham.
Hoddle quit The Dell last Tuesday but was only confirmed as Spurs' new boss on Monday.
And on his arrival at White Hart Lane, Hoddle admitted: "It feels like I have come home".
The former England manager also claimed that Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe was "naive" in football matters.
He told reporters: "Rupert Lowe probably hasn't been in the game long enough to realise that when things happen in football, they happen very quickly, whether it's involving players or managers.
"It does feel like I have come home and I've been very excited about this, I was really looking forward to it," said the new Tottenham boss as he began preparations for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against old foes Arsenal.
"I had a fantastic time at Southampton and feel I have left them in a very, very healthy position.
"Tottenham were the only club I would have left Southampton for and I really mean that. They are lovely people down there and I've loved working with the players.
"But the option came up and I said 'yes'. It has taken time, but all that is behind us now and I'm looking forward to Sunday's match.
"Football can be very difficult sometimes. Players and fans know that, but some people do not understand it."
