The FAI have accepted the Government’s offer to become the anchor tenants of the proposed national stadium.

The FAI have accepted the Government’s offer to become the anchor tenants of the proposed national stadium.

The decision to scrap the Eircom Park project in favour of the billion pound Government scheme at Abbotstown was taken at a special meeting yesterday evening.

It means the eventual end of Irish soccer internationals at Lansdowne Road.

Despite the failure of the planned Eircom Park, FAI President, Pat Quigley, believes that the supporters of the abandoned stadium, including Chief Executive, Bernard O’Byrne, will remain positive about the future stadium.
