Soccer: PSG continue to suffer

Paris St Germain can't win in the league, can't win in the domestic cup and can't win in Europe against 10-man opposition.

The Frenchmen had to settle for a 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the San Siro continuing the nosedive since October.

They have sunk to 11th in the table and were crushed 4-0 by Auxerre in the Coupe de France fourth round at the weekend.

And now coach Luis Fernandez will have to explain why his side only grabbed a point despite the dismissal of Milan's Roque Junior three minutes before the break.

Former PSG forward Leonardo gave Milan the lead on 27 minutes, taking a pass from Demetrio Albertini in his stride, skipping past a marker and flicking the ball, left-footed, over goalkeeper Lionel Letizi from eight yards.

But three minutes later the French side were level, with Nicolas Anelka breaking the offside trap to pick up a pass from Ali Benarbia and slotting the ball coolly past Christian Abbiati.

Centre-back Roque Junior was red-carded for tugging Anelka back as the £22m striker raced through on goal, but the home side were just as dangerous as the Parisians in the second period.

Andrei Shevchenko had the best chance of the half, but his shot was well charged down by Letizi.

Milan stay second in Group B as a result of the point, but Galatasaray, last season's UEFA Cup winners, are two points clear at the top now after beating Spaniards Deportivo La Coruna 1-0 in Turkey, Kaya Suat getting the goal.

Sturm Graz are off the mark in Group A after losing their first two matches of the second group stage.

Last night the Austrians beat Panathinaikos 2-0 thanks to a 60th-minute strike from Mario Haas and 85th-minute clincher from Tomislav Kocijan.

The result further strengthens Manchester United's prospects of advancing to the knock-out stages as the Premier League leaders are now four points clear of third-placed Graz with Panathinaikos slumped at the foot of the table with a single point.
