‘No serious injury’ for Anthony Pilkington
Video footage showed the Ireland player attempting to continue playing but then collapsing to the turf clutching his knee and, later, he left Turf Moor on crutches.
However, a scan yesterday on the 27-year-old showed no significant damage and, according to the club, he will resume training “in due course, once suitably rested.”
Pilkington, one of the longer shots for inclusion in Martin O’Neill’s Euros squad, has had a career blighted by injury but, played centrally for Cardiff in recent times, has hit a rich vein of form, scoring eight goals.
And he had been impressing against Burnley too before his second-half injury saw him replaced by Aron Gunnarsson.
“I thought he was a threat all night for the two Burnley centre-backs,” said Cardiff boss Russell Slade.
