Alex Teixeira ‘wants Liverpool move’

Liverpool and Chelsea target Alex Teixeira has reportedly told Shakhtar Donetsk that he wants to join Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Alex Teixeira ‘wants Liverpool move’

The Brazilian forward has been heavily linked with Liverpool through the transfer window, with CEO Ian Ayre believed to have visited Shakhtar’s winter training camp in Florida last week. Though Klopp refused to be drawn on the club’s interest after the win over Norwich, there are reports an initial Liverpool bid of €30m was rebuffed, with Shakhtar valuing the player at closer to €50m.

The versatile attacker has scored 26 goals for Shakhtar this season, but previously informed the club he would like to move on, either during the current transfer window or in summer.

But last night Sky Sports reported that Teixeira had made it clear he wants the club to do business with Liverpool.

Striker claims Hammers deal

Reports in Turkey claim Galatasaray’s Burak Yilmaz has already finalised a deal with West Ham, despite manager Slaven Bilic playing down prospects of a move.

The Turkish international was linked with the Hammers last summer, but interest has been renewed with Andy Carroll injured again and Diafra Sakho battling for fitness.

Yilmaz scored in Gala’s defeat to Osmanlispor at the weekend, but Turkish news website F5 quote the player as saying: “West Ham transfer to occur within two or three days.”

Bilic is aware of Yilmaz’s talents from his spell at Besiktas. Bilic confirmed the Hammers’ interest in taking Nigerian Emmanuel Emenike on loan. Emenike had been on loan at Abu Dhabi side Al Ain from Turkish club Fenerbahce, but that agreement finished.

“It is not a done deal,” said Bilic.

Valdes ends United misery

Victor Valdes’ unhappy stay at Manchester United is over after the club confirmed a move to Standard Liege. The 34-year-old moves to the Belgian club on loan until the end of the season and will become a free agent in the summer.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper has only made two appearances since joining United 12 months ago and has reportedly experienced a strained relationship with Louis van Gaal.

Valdes signed an 18-month contract with United after moving to Old Trafford a year ago but now becomes the fifth United player to go out on loan this month after fellow goalkeepers Sam Johnstone, Dean Henderson and Kieran O’Hara, and striker Ashley Fletcher.

Adnan Januzaj, Will Keane, Donald Love and Joel Castro Pereira have returned to the club in recent weeks, while Liam Grimshaw and Ben Pearson have both made moves to Preston.

Watford hope to bolster midfield

Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores is expecting to sign at least one more player before the transfer window closes.

The Hornets are said to be closing in on a deal for Mario Suarez and the midfielder was left out of Fiorentina’s squad for their Serie A clash against Torino yesterday.

Flores, who has already signed Nordin Amrabat from Malaga for €8million and Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, worked with Suarez during their respective spells at Atletico Madrid.

Suarez moved from the Spanish capital to Fiorentina last summer, but the 28-year-old has struggled to settle in Italy, making only five league starts.

“We are expecting to incorporate another player, probably one central midfielder during the week,” said Flores.
